Today is my 34th birthday so i got pretty nostalgic and decided to watch old stuff from WoW.
I didnt realize at the time but…

I think (not sure) i was the one who came up with the term “Benthic Casino” in Battle for Azeroth.

I made a thread explaining you could spam create benthic gear until you got a gem proc on the gear and named it “Benthic Gear Casino Royale”
    The term got used

After that, gems got nerfed and gem slots were not as much overpowered as before…

Made this video 3 years ago to parody the situation:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYpx…annel=FreePunk

But thats me AND my most nostalgic moment.
    How about you guys?

Anytime I see people in retail with the original Amani War Bear mount it reminds me of raiding in my small 10 man guild in BC. We had so much fun doing ZA (with only t5 gear) where we were able to get the mount for each of member. Still my favorite mount to this day.

Entering Stormwind for the first time hearing the epic music will forever be my most nostalgic wow moment, no raid success or mount drop would ever feel that epic to me.

When I was still on starter account and decided to go around Azeroth on foot, being level 20. The amount of times I died before I reached Dark Portal was countless but the first sight of Outland sky and demon army behind the portal was totally worth it.

Joining my first Guild (Medium Rare) while out questing in the Barrens way back in TBC when I started, came across the GM and their spouse (a bear Druid and resto shaman) questing as well by Ratchet doing that long ass escort quest.

We quested together for quite awhile, chatting, till they offered the invitation. Was with them for years after that. They stopped playing after Cata, the guild pretty much disbanding after that.

Another memorable moment ofc is the first time playing, started with a Tauren Druid… loved questing in Mulgore when everything was new to me. Always get that nostalgia when I visit Thunder Bluff or Mulgore, hearing their music.

And lastly, the song of Wintergrasp really hits the nostalgia feels… loved WotLK.

Ban’ithil Hollow. I created a night elf in classic just play play through it again.

14 year old me back in the day could not comprehend a game with a bunch of random people coming together to conqueror the tunnels. But there it was. A real Lord of the Rings moment. You have my shield. You have my bow, and my axe.

Too many to list…The big moments was always a beginning or something new beginning…my first toon (spring of 2005) was ne-druid. Was afraid to leave those first zones…but I was all about “feral.” And I loved Shadowglen. Never felt much towards other classes, until death knight, (Unholy was too fun) which became my “favorite” then Blizz redid the talents a few months later(?)

The stuff that really does it for me are the vanilla class quests and the really off the beaten path stuff that felt slightly underdeveloped. That kind of stuff has a charm that has been missing for a long time.

My first character back in vanilla was a male night elf druid. With some variation of the name ‘Malfurion’ iirc. Was first introduced to WoW alongside my brother by watching my cousin playing a night elf in darkshore. I vividly remember thinking it was some Final Fantasy X mmo bc I thought he was playing a guado.

I spent so much time in Ashenvale, Teldrassil and Darkshore leveling my lil druid. The vibrant colours of the flora, the almost eternal gloom of Darkshore and the Zoram Strand, the enormous trees of Ashenvale.

Also, any time I visit Uldum. Was my favourite zone in Cata to quest. Such a nice calming zone. And Vashj’ir too. I know a lot of people hate on it, but it was different and ambitious.

In I think TBC (could have been WOTLK it’s been that long I can’t remember which) I levelled a rogue for the sole purpose of organising a stealth raid of Orgrimmar (and other horde cities). I spoke to the rogue and druid officers for all the major raiding guilds on my server and we had >100 rogues and druids and killed Thrall, Baine (or whoever was in charge of thunderbluff) and Sylvanas. My most vivid memory of it was an orc (I think) shaman running in when we were attacking Thrall and then a good 10 rogues dropping out of stealth and instantly deleting him.

That sounds so epic a true story to be told
    My rogue main approves

The only thing i organized as a rogue was a small militia of players being griefed by Horde…to fight them back.

All the dead players i gathered came back to life to have their revenge…and we ended up conquering the zone.
This was in WoW Classic not THAT long ago

Probably my first days playing my first character when WoW hit Live, a Forsaken Warlock running around Tirisfal Glades. The moment I remember best is when the various quests took me to Agamand Mills, where WoW felt like it came truly alive and actively dangerous to a low-level Warlock like myself. I crept into the area and felt a sense of claustrophobic paranoia due to the density of mobs – I ducked around and inside the ramshackle houses in a futile attempt to evade things. As I journeyed deeper into the subzone I lucked onto a Warrior doing the same quests, and we grouped up to take on the challenges, which became their first experience with tanking while I used my spells to kill things as fast as possible.

Was quite the experience and truly cemented WoW as fun for me going forward. A close runner-up would be when my guild and I finally finished the ascent up Icecrown Citadel to face the Lich King at the close of WotLK. We all sort of stood there for a moment, taking in the moment before confronting what really felt to the group of us like the final boss of WoW as a whole. Sweet as victory eventually was, it still didn’t beat the moment we first saw him atop the Frozen Throne and collectively thought “shit, now we’ve got to fight this thing.”

My first toon was a human paladin. And getting the Hammer questline that sent you all corners of Azeroth was mindblowing. Met a helpful higher level player while I was standing outside of Shadowfang for part of the quest. We were able to two player up to the point where the quest finishes. Up until that point you really only explore the zones around Stormwind. But this quest has you going deep into PvP territory and into zones you haven’t even heard of before.

The early Night elf zones give me that feeling, well, they used to anyway.

I didn’t know what i was doing (Rotation? A and D turn my character around…), that those other characters were played by real people was a revelation, the first patrolling ancient was amazing, entering Darnassus and having the city BGM start gave a real sense of grandeur, spooky Darkshore, the beautiful forests of Ashenvale, filled with Furbolg and nasty spiders, but so pretty…

The loss of the beauty of those places is why Blizz stirring up cheap drama with Cataclysm and BfA pisses me off so much, the shock passed soon enough, but those areas are still ruined…

For me, I would have to say when I first logged in to play a human priest wandering through Elwynn Forest and then to Westfall. Kinda silly but I fell in love with the game even though I started right after Burning Crusade went live.

For the first 5-6 years of the game I saw countless players on both sides in the world long before dailies and zone quests became a thing.

Heck I remember the daily pvp fights between factions outside of Karazhan while they were trying to summon their guild members and this was on a pve server!

Heck, you could log into world defense channels and never get bored hunting down at the other faction players killing quest npcs.

    Good times.

Also not sure if this counts as nostalgia but everytime I see a thunderlizard I remember playing vanilla WoW and WALKING from Ironforge to stonetalon mountain with my Dwarf hunter to tame a thunderlizard… to find out they weren’t tameable

The starting zones, where it all began. Starting a character somewhere, leveling them for a bit, then starting another character somewhere else to see what was there. I made a lot of alts for years, sometimes just for the fun of leveling them up. I don’t even know how many Death Knights I’ve made and leveled past their starting zone and into Outland, but it’s probably at least twenty…
